Record the separation before cleaning
Identify the membrane, feed lot, pre-screening stage and sampling points. Log the measured operating conditions and the individual permeate and retentate streams over a common interval. A pressure difference alone does not identify the cause of a performance change.
| Stage | Record | Comparison basis |
|---|---|---|
| Production | Feed/permeate/retentate flows; temperature and measured pressures | Named product lot and operating point |
| Drain and rinse | Recovered product, discarded rinse and route of each stream | Separate product recovery from added water |
| Cleaning | Supplier-approved sequence, concentration, temperature and time | Selected membrane and seals |
| Restart | Rinse endpoint, agreed checks and comparable performance reading | Same method and reference conditions |
Include circuit and access requirements
Define the cleaning supply and return connections, drain route, chemical containment and instrument access. Confirm whether the module uses its own cleaning set or an integrated CIP supply. Open press cleaning is a different duty from closed membrane cleaning.
Agree the acceptance comparison in advance
The test record should identify which results release the module back to production and which require investigation. Use measured data and the supplier procedure instead of a generic chemical recipe or a guaranteed recovery percentage.
