Product routes
- juice
- purée
- vegetable blend base
Receive accepted roots
Identify variety, root dimensions and defects.
Table beet and another beet-derived industrial feed should not be treated as interchangeable raw materials.
- Equipment duty: Root inspection conveyor and receiving hopper
Remove soil
Remove adhering soil before edible preparation.
Separate dirty root-washing water from the clean preparation and juice-contact areas.
- Equipment duty: Root washer and controlled rinse
Trim and define peel inclusion
Prepare the accepted edible root fraction.
Agree how skin and damaged portions are handled before comparing recovery.
- Equipment duty: Trimming and selected peeling arrangement
Reduce root size
Develop a feed suited to the selected press.
The actual particle character should be recorded, not described only by the motor size or cutter name.
- Equipment duty: Root shredder or cutter
Press the juice
Separate liquid from fibrous root solids.
Assess suspended solids and press cake with the desired flavour and product colour, not gross output alone.
- Equipment duty: Product-compatible juice press
Finish and route
Set coarse-particle and pulp requirements.
A clarified ingredient or concentrated base adds distinct separation and downstream duties.
- Equipment duty: Screening stage and covered juice buffer
Specify preservation around the actual product
Confirm the measured product composition, particulate load and intended storage chain before the treatment and filling arrangement is selected.
The pressed root-juice base route needs its own validated process. A drawing, a heat-exchanger name or a successful extraction trial does not establish a safe treatment schedule or a finished shelf-life claim.
- Equipment duty: Selected treatment unit, controlled transfer and process instruments
Fill, identify and verify the packed ingredient
Match the approved ingredient to the selected package and handling conditions. Record the production lot and the conditions required by its defined distribution route.
The filling boundary belongs in the project specification: container format, product-contact interface, filling hygiene, storage and the downstream user’s receiving requirements must agree before commercial acceptance.
- Equipment duty: Compatible filler, packaging interface and lot-identification station
Equipment modules and selection
| Equipment module | Process role | Selection basis |
|---|---|---|
| Root inspection conveyor and receiving hopper | Control the incoming-material presentation before preparation. | Check actual lot condition, peak arrivals and the accepted size range. Provide a sample/reject point that can be operated without obstructing feed to the next machine. |
| Trimming and selected peeling arrangement | Soil removal and texture development. | Preparation, particle size and any conditioning step should be evaluated for the actual vegetable and product. Do not borrow a fruit-juice preservation schedule for a vegetable formulation. |
| Root shredder or cutter | Create the agreed intermediate condition for downstream equipment. | Agree an acceptance sample, a measurable particle or separation target and a reject-handling method. Select contact parts and access arrangements after trials with representative material. |
| Product buffer and transfer system | Connect preparation, treatment and filling without assuming all sections run at the same rate. | Record viscosity, particle character, temperature envelope and expected stoppages. Confirm drainability, sampling points and how unaccepted or interrupted product is identified and handled. |
| Preservation, packaging and cleaning interfaces | Complete the declared process boundary. | The quoted scope should identify included instruments, services, containers, hygienic connections and validation responsibilities. An item list without these interfaces is not a complete line specification. |
Incoming material and preparation
Will the buyer supply red table beetroot rather than sugar beet, and what root diameter and soil contamination range must preparation handle?
How much earthy flavour and pulp should remain, and what colour retention, coarse fibre and sediment limits will be used to approve the finished beetroot ingredient?
Define incoming state, variety, maturity, accepted defects and supply interruptions in the purchasing brief. A proposed line should be demonstrated with representative commercial lots rather than a single ideal sample.
Quality checks along the process
Review soil or grit, coarse particles, colour, flavour and sediment. Keep raw variety and preparation condition with retained samples.
Define the sampling location, sample preparation, measurement method and acceptable variation. Retain traceable comparisons through the intended downstream route; a favourable immediate sample is not proof of storage stability.
Packaging and storage interfaces
Specify whether the pressed root-juice base is supplied as a chilled, frozen, otherwise treated or aseptically handled ingredient, as applicable to the developed product. Package material, closure, fill conditions and distribution are a connected system. Any claimed ambient stability or shelf life requires product- and package-specific validation; the process introduction does not set treatment temperatures or holding times.
Cleaning circuits and physical access
Root soil, coloured residues and fibres require different removal and inspection steps. Separate open dirty-root cleaning from the closed juice circuit.
Assign cleaning responsibilities to the open preparation zone and the closed product circuit separately. Confirm which parts require removal or inspection and how cleaning effectiveness will be demonstrated with the actual product soil.
Product and residue streams
Collect soil-bearing rejects, trim and fibrous press cake separately. Co-product use needs its own quality and handling specification.
Inputs for the engineering brief
- Trial the accepted root-size and soil-load range, recording the chosen peel/trim objective and press feed condition.
- Provide the intended finished-product specification, representative raw-material samples, daily operating pattern and seasonal peak load.
- Identify available utilities, factory layout, drainage, reject collection and the exact inlet/outlet conditions of equipment supplied by others.
- Agree trial acceptance criteria and define the preservation, filling, cleaning and commissioning responsibilities before finalising the equipment scope.
Set the extraction duty beside pineapple
The pineapple juice route prepares a fibrous extraction feed, presses it and controls the fibre carried into the next operation. The material on this page may instead require gentle citrus extraction, stone separation, controlled pulping or a different press feed.
Compare the pineapple belt-press and screen-finishing duties with the specified inlet and outlet above. A machine connection is selected around that product stream; fruit name, visible arrangement or nominal water flow cannot establish extraction performance.
Sources and processing scope
The references support these material and processing considerations. The actual equipment, process conditions, preservation method and packaging interface follow the specified raw material and finished product.

Practical questions
Can sugar-beet feed represent table-beet juice trials?
No. The raw-material identity and product should be declared. A reference from another beet-processing application does not establish performance on the table-beet ingredient required here.
Does deep colour prove a suitable juice?
No. Coarse particles, grit, flavour, sediment and the selected preservation and packaging route also need evaluation on the actual product.
What should a useful beetroot trial establish?
Trial the accepted root-size and soil-load range, recording the chosen peel/trim objective and press feed condition. Record incoming material, accepted feed, finished ingredient and each reject stream separately. Keep settings, samples and analytical methods with the trial record so the result can be compared with subsequent seasonal lots.
